Cognitive Therapy (also known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and CBT)
is a psychological approach that was developed in the 1960s when it was
discovered that people who were feeling down and depressed tended to view
themselves, their history and their future negatively. When such people
were not depressed their thinking was not nearly as negative. This suggested
that one might be able to change a person's mood by examining and changing
the patterns of their thinking.
