Mindfulness Meditation Group for Adults and Teens

Shift is now offering a 6 – session, psychologist-led group to help adults and teens begin to develop a practice in mindful meditation.

Mindfulness meditation is the art of learning how to focus on whatever is happening in the present moment by attending to some anchor, often the breath. The repetitive acts of collecting the mind when it has wandered away and bringing it back to the breath help to create a sense of calm and safety in allowing thoughts, feelings and sensations that might previously have been avoided because they felt painful or dangerous.

A growing body of research is showing that a regular practice in mindfulness meditation can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and prevent relapse in depression.
